Guest Story: A Cheer Nationals Weekend Full of Family Memories
✨ This sweet family traveled from Royse City, Texas to Galveston for their daughter’s cheer competition with Texas Tough Cheer from Greenville, Texas—and filled the weekend with unforgettable memories along the coast.
Their competition weekend began early, with the team requesting all athletes arrive by 2pm Friday for practice at Moody Gardens. Because of this, being able to offer an early check-in helped make the day so much smoother for the family.
After unloading bags and taking a breather, the family walked into White Magnolia and found a custom welcome message created especially for their daughter waiting for them—a surprise that instantly brought a huge smile to her face 💛
The family was also greeted with cake pops and treats placed on every bed, one of the thoughtful touches we love preparing for guests celebrating special moments.
Before meeting up with the cheer team, they enjoyed a relaxing walk to the beach and spent time shopping at Murdoch’s along the Seawall.
After practice, the team gathered for dinner at The Spot—a fun and easy choice for large groups visiting Galveston for competitions and events.
Later that evening, the family rode the Galveston-Port Bolivar Ferry over toward Crystal Beach, where the girls had an unforgettable time spotting dolphins in the water 🐬
Competition morning came early with a 5:30am wake-up call to get competition ready. The large mirrors and stools throughout White Magnolia made the perfect setup for hair, makeup, and getting cheer-ready before heading to compete.
After competition, the family spent the rest of the day relaxing at Crystal Beach and meeting up with extended family before enjoying a slower Sunday morning for Mother’s Day.
One detail especially meaningful to us was hearing how much the home’s historic charm stood out to the family. The guest’s husband owns Chavez Contractors, and as someone familiar with renovation work, he appreciated the care taken to preserve the character and original features of the historic home while updating it for modern comfort.
